About OCP Camo – Scorpion W2
The Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP), also known as Scorpion W2, was adopted by the United States Army in 2015 as the main pattern for the Army Combat Uniform (ACU). Officially replacing the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) in 2019.
OCP also superseded MultiCam, previously used in the War in Afghanistan. Developed from the original “Scorpion” pattern by Natick Labs and Crye Precision, OCP was selected for its effectiveness in varied terrains. The United States Air Force replaced their Airman Battle Uniform (ABU) with ACU in OCP, following positive feedback from airmen deployed in Afghanistan. In 2019, the pattern was also adopted by personnel transitioning to the United States Space Force from the Air Force. OCP uniforms, offering improved concealment across multiple environments, were issued to Army soldiers deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq, Europe, and the Horn of Africa starting in early April 2015.
