Description
Our Khaki Pith Helmet will keep you cool and protected on your next expedition. The pith helmet was made popular by military personnel decades ago, in tropical areas, to protect the head and face from the sun and it’s still used today by some active duty Marines!
This Pith Helmet is made of a high-density polyethylene, which is waterproof, and provides excellent protection from the sun. There is an adjustable head band on the inside of the helmet to give you a comfortable fit.
The U.S. Marine Corps first issued pith helmets called “elephant hats” to the 1st Marine Division’s deployment to Guantánamo Bay in 1940. They were worn in the South Pacific as well as worn by recruits in United States Marine Corps Boot Camp. The U.S. Marine Corps pith helmet currently sees use as a form of identification and protection from the sun by rifle range coaches and instructors. Made in USA.
